A porcelain hard-neck variety that is very hardy, its satiny white bulb wrappers cover 6-10 fat cloves, with brown skins slightly tinged with red.
Description
Good flavor, smooth and zesty. We’ve been growing it for many years and have enjoyed its consistent yields and size. It has a nice robust flavor that’s a little hot. Stores well until April. Originates in the Republic of Georgia between the Black Sea and the Aral Sea. Crystal is listed in the Seeds of Diversity Canada catalogue of heritage varieties as endangered and hard to find. The Crystal Inspiration, is about 4-8 heads to the pound, with an average of 6-10 large cloves per head. $18 a pound. Best ordered by August to ensure supply.
